Meet Irina M. Popa

Nurse Practitioner

“My heart has always been to alleviate suffering and make a meaningful impact in people’s lives.”

I’m Irina, a board-certified autonomous Family Nurse Practitioner and founder of MissionMed Wellness, with 25 years of healthcare experience in the U.S. and abroad. Originally from Romania, my path into medicine has always been rooted in a desire to heal and to serve.

For nearly a decade, I worked in primary care, treating chronic and acute conditions, mental illnesses, supporting women’s health, and helping patients pursue better overall wellness. Along the way, I experienced firsthand the limits of a system built around volume rather than relationships: rushed visits, insurance dictating care instead of the provider, and never enough time to give my patients’ whole health the attention it needed.

So I created MissionMed Wellness: a space that’s accessible, convenient, and relationship-centered, where patients have time to be heard, where we look beyond symptoms to understand the whole person, and where care means personalized plans for long-term health, not just another medication added to your list.

I’m passionate about helping people achieve optimal health, mentally, physically, and spiritually. As a Christian, I see medicine as my ministry, and I’m grateful for every opportunity, in my practice or beyond it, to bring compassion and healing to those I serve.

My passion for serving others has taken me on medical mission trips across El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, and Europe. Serving communities with little access to care has shaped how I practice medicine to this day.

What is an autonomous nurse practitioner?

In 2020, the Florida Legislature authorized Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) who meet specific education and clinical practice hours criteria to become independent practitioners without the need for physician oversight.


